About inuk Media

Inuk Media is a production company with its roots in the fascinating Greenlandic culture. Peter Jensen, the owner of inuk Media, grew up in Qaqortoq in the very south of Greenland and started his career at the local TV station there in 1978. 10 years later inuk Media was founded and is today one of Greenland's most distinguished production companies.

Being a Greenlander, Peter is of modest nature and doesn't like boasting, but there are some facts that cannot be denied. Peter has 30 years of experience from professional TV- and film production. The archive of inuk media holds more than 3 000 tapes of invaluable material, covering most aspects of the Greenlandic society and culture. The company also has an extensive list of returning costumers.

Inuk Media is based in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland and has entire Greenland as working field.

About inuk Design

With inuk Design in the house, we are able to offer an entire campaign, including brochures, banners, calendars, pins and a lot more. For a recent campaign to promote dental health among kids, Lis Stender even wrote a "tooth brushing song", handed out at the dental clinics in Greenland. Lis Stender is the heart and brain behind inuk Design with more than 20 years of experience from working professionally as a designer.

In 2001 inuk Design was founded and is now a part of inuk Media. "The exchange of competence goes both ways" says Lis Stender. "I can help inuk Media with the graphical design of TV-spots or films. At the same time, they provide me the knowledge about multimedia." Several costumers have realized the advantages of multimedia presentation. "If you have a message to communicate, it's so much more effective if you can use the entire spectra of communication" says Lis.

So if you walk by a Greenlandic kid singing a song about brushing his teeth, then you know who's behind it.

"Tajarutit" - Wrist warmers

For generations Greenlandic women have been knitting "Tajarutit", wrist warmers decorated with beautiful patterns of pearls. This book written by Lis Stender takes this traditional handcraft outside the Greenlandic borders and let you knit your own "Tajarutit". The book contains five patterns with detailed instructions. "I want to share with people some of our unknown traditional handcraft, to keep it alive and useful" says Lis Stender.

The book is already a success in Greenland and is now available in four different languages: English, French, Danish and Greenlandic. For price request and ordering information, please send a mail to: inukdesign@greennet.gl The books are shipped from Greenland, so in order to calculate postal rates, we need to know which country you live in.
